Shambhala Day Community Celebration: Year of the Fire Bird
with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche
Shambhala Day represents one of the most important traditions of Shambhala Buddhism. It is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality, elegance and tenderness. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche will give his annual address to the worldwide Shambhala Community via the Internet on Monday February 27th, which includes centers and groups from six continents and over thirty countries around the world. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycles. Our Sonoma Center will celebrate Shambhala Day on the following SUNDAY March 5th. This is also the time when members and friends are encouraged to make a financial donation in order to help support the activities of the worldwide Shambhala commmunity.
