Sonoma Shambhala Center Rental Policy

In response to requests for rental of our space from individuals, groups and members, we have devised this pricing structure and guidelines for renting our space. The goal is to make the Center available for certain uses at times when it is essentially not used at all.

In general, we will consider renting our space to “compatible use” activities. These include, but are not limited to, meditation, yoga, lectures and educational workshops, etc. Non-compatible use might include kickboxing, music lessons, or other activities that would cause potential harm to the space or disturb neighboring tenants.

The seating capacity of the main shrine room is 75 (seventy-five) persons. Please note the main shrine room is not available on Sunday mornings or Tuesday or Thursday evenings; or during programs otherwise announced on this website.

It is possible for individuals and groups to rent the Center for an entire weekend. However, advance planning is necessary (6 months minimum, in most cases).

Also, due to parking lot restrictions, renters of the Center for weekday programs during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) must use offsite parking. The shopping plaza just to the east of us has available parking.

Those interested in renting our space on a regular or ongoing basis must present a proposal in writing to the Council of the Sonoma Shambhala Meditaion Center for approval.

Unless otherwise specified, rental refers to rental of the large room (main shrine room). Use of the bookstore and kitchen/community room is available by arrangement. Additional charges may apply.

A 25% deposit is required to reserve space. If you cancel your event four weeks (or more) prior to your event date, your deposit will be refunded.

Standard Rental Fees:
$500 per full weekend (includes Friday night, Saturday and Sunday)
$250 per single weekend day or evening (Friday, Saturday or Sunday)
$100 per single weekday day or evening (Monday – Thursday)

Weddings: $250

Renters agree to leave the space in the condition in which they find it, i.e. in a clean and orderly fashion. Use of folding tables and chairs available upon request. Use of projection screen available upon request.

Renters may be required to provide proof of liability insurance. This can be obtained from their individual homeowner’s insurance company as a rider on their main policy. The cost is negligible. The liability limits should be $1,000,000 (one million dollars) and the rider should name the Sonoma Shambhala Meditation Center as additional insured.
