Remembering Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, The Dorje Dradul

    With Lou Braun

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche was a Buddhist meditation master, scholar, poet, artist, and the one who brought Shambhala to the West. He founded an international community of over 150 meditation centers Known as Shambhala Meditation Centers. To realize the vision of Shambhala, he taught the use of mindfulness/awareness meditation as a way to connect with one's basic goodness and the basic goodness of others.  More than just a path focused on individual freedom, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche offered a powerful societal vision and taught that if we are to create a better world, we’d need to base our approach on global respect for fundamental human dignity. As a long time practitioner, Lou will share “a student’s perspective” of Trungpa Rinpoche, and the path he gave us to follow.

These informal events serve as an introduction to our center, Shambhala Buddhism and the practice of peaceful abiding meditation as well as an opportunity for our current friends and members to share in the community.

We begin our Open House evenings at 7:00 p.m. with meditation instruction and a short period of sitting meditation practice.  At around 7:30, we provide either a short talk or video followed by a group discussion.

Afterwards, we adjourn for tea and snacks in our cafe-style community room and chat with Shambhala practitioners and other visitors.

There's plenty of time for visitors to ask any questions they may have and also to explore in greater depth the topic of the evening. The evening ends between 8:30 and 9:00.

    Everyone is welcome!
