Weekly Family Meditation Program
Sonoma Shambhala Weekly Family Meditation Program
The Sunday Family Meditation Program is a weekly meditation practice opportunity for parents and we welcome children as part of our community.
It is a time where children and adults can come together as well as engage in their own separate practices. During the adult sitting meditation, the children will be taught Mindful Practice as well as given space to engage in and create their own sense of community with each other. We will end the morning with the adults and children together in the shrine room.
Children aged 5 and up are welcome to attend on their own. Parents of children under 5, please contact Carlos Gonzalez at [email protected] in advance for more information.
The program accompanies our regular Sunday morning group meditation practice and Shambhala Sadhana Sundays from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m.
Carlos Gonzalez is an experienced Waldorf teacher and tutor who brings his Shambhala Buddhist training to his work with his students.
Kay Folks is an elementary school teacher who brings lots of experience with working with young children as well as personal experience as a meditation practitioner in the Shambhala community to these Sunday mornings.
Susie Cook is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 10 years of meditation practice in the Shambhala Buddhist Tradition and is trained by Mindful Schools to teach Mindfulness to children.
Other Sonoma Shambhala community members with experience working with children will assist.
These events are free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome.
