We're pleased to offer a one-day program introducing The Sadhana of Kindness, a short liturgy invoking the moon of kindness in our heart as the basis for establishing enlightened society. This practice, initially composed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in 2015, is short, delightful, and a primary avenue into mahayana practice within the Shambhala tradition.

A sadhana, or “means of accomplishment,” is a liturgy that accomplishes its aim—in this case, for kindness to fearlessly create enlightened society. The Sadhana of Kindness is designed to foster this in a variety of ways. The practice can be used as part of our personal path and exploration of kindness and mahayana; or it can be used communally as a way to gather in kindness.  As desired, we may offer it in Sonoma as a monthly group practice, before classes, as part of group retreats, at community gatherings, and as a center-based response to situations needing compassion and kindness.

It also may be practiced on one’s own after receiving the reading transmission, or "lung" (in Tibetan), and the text for the practice.  During this one-day program, participants will receive the reading transmission for the Sadhana of Kindness and a copy of the sadhana for personal use.

This program is open to everyone in the community who have been introduced to the practice of sitting meditation. People who have previously received the lung for the Sadhana of Kindness are warmly invited to join this program at a reduced "repeater" price,

No one will be turned away for lack of funds.  For those who can pay the patron rate, funds will go towards ensuring everyone has access to the weekend.  For more information please see our generosity policy.  Questions about program fee or membership, contact Susie Cook at [email protected].
