Room: Hybrid Program: In-Person and Online

This offering is both in-person and online via Zoom • Presented by the Sonoma Shambhala Center

This year, Shambhala Day (Tibetan Lunar New Year) is on Saturday, February 10th, and the Sonoma Shambhala Center will host gatherings to celebrate the energetic shift from the Year of the Water Rabbit to the Year of the Wood Dragon

    Mamo Chants

In order to dispel the personal, societal, and environmental karmic accumulations of 2023, we are encouraged to practice as much as possible in the 11-day period leading up to Shambhala Day 2024. This year, we will be offering two in-person and online Mamo Protector Chant Practice sessions at the Sonoma Center on:

    • Thursday, February 1st, 5:30–6:30 pm, and
    • Monday, February 5th, 5:30–6:30 pm

By repeatedly reciting “Pacifying the Turmoil of the Mamos,” we tune into the protector principle of awareness and reconnect with sacred outlook. The chant scripts will be screen-shared so those at home can follow along. If you haven’t participated in this practice before, you’re in for a unique experience!

Here’s the Zoom link to join us from home:

There is no charge to attend these practice days, but as always, your donations to our Center in any amount are greatly appreciated.

    Neutral Day

The day before Shambhala Day—Friday, February 9th — is considered a Neutral Day and is a traditional time to clean and refresh one’s home and shrines in preparation for the coming year. As usual, we will gather that day to uplift our Center. Stay tuned for more detailed information.

    Shambhala Online Protector Principle Gatherings

In addition, Shambhala Online will offer year-end practices from January 30th to Feb 8th. These daily hour-long gatherings at 12:00 p.m. (West Coast time) include a brief talk on the protector principle, group meditation practice, and recitations of the protector and Mamo chants.

Presenters for this year’s end-of-year practice sessions include Judith Simmer-Brown, Jeff Scott, Greg Smith, and more . . . ! Click here for more information and to register for these Shambhala Online offerings.
